Plants Vs Zombies Merge Defense is a browser-based tower defense and merge puzzle hybrid. You place plants on a grid of lanes, and dragging two identical plants of the same tier onto each other merges them into a stronger unit, unlocking new species with higher damage output and special abilities. Zombies advance in waves from the right side of the screen, and you must hold the left edge to protect your base. Currency earned from defeating zombies funds new plant purchases from a shop that refreshes every few seconds. The game runs across dozens of numbered levels, each introducing tougher zombie variants including armored, speedy, and boss-tier undead. Early levels take about 2 minutes to clear; later stages demand careful grid management and intentional merge chains, pushing sessions to 10 minutes or more. Plant positioning matters because some units have area-of-effect attacks and range limits. No installation is needed; the game runs fully in the browser.
