English Checkers, also known as Draughts, is a browser-based board game that follows the standard 8x8 ruleset in which pieces move diagonally and must capture enemy pieces by jumping over them when a capture is available. You play against an AI opponent whose difficulty adjusts across 3 selectable levels, from beginner to advanced, allowing both casual and competitive practice. A rating system tracks your performance across sessions, updating after each completed game and placing you on a global leaderboard. Your profile stores full match statistics including wins, losses, draws, and average moves per game. The AI calculates forced-capture sequences accurately, so understanding defensive positioning becomes increasingly important at higher difficulty settings. Pieces that reach the back row are kinged and can move in both diagonal directions. A typical match takes 10 to 20 minutes. The game runs in the browser with no installation, and your rating and stats persist between visits through account-based saving.
