Goal.io is a browser-based 2D soccer game played in three-minute matches against live opponents on a global leaderboard. You control a single circular player using the mouse or touch, positioning yourself to intercept passes, shield the ball, and line up shots on the enemy goal. Matches take place on a flat top-down pitch with two human-sized goals; the physics engine gives the ball realistic curl and bounce off walls. Each goal scores one point, and the player with the most goals when the 3-minute clock hits zero wins the round. Between rounds the leaderboard refreshes, and your cumulative score across a session earns cosmetic upgrades such as ball skins and player colors. No installation, no sign-up, and no download is required. A full session of five rounds runs about 15 minutes. The difficulty scales with the skill level of matched opponents rather than a fixed AI tier, so early games can be competitive immediately. Shooting accuracy and defensive positioning matter more than raw speed.
