Steel Advance is a browser-based WWII tank strategy game in which you pilot an M4 Sherman against waves of German Panzer units threatening your base. Each mission tasks you with destroying enemy barracks while intercepting armored columns before they overrun your defenses. The core mechanic involves pushing sandbags across the terrain to build custom fortifications, create firing channels, and deflect incoming shells. Positioning matters enormously: a poorly placed sandbag can seal off your own movement corridor, leaving your tank immobile and the mission effectively lost. Rounds escalate in enemy density and aggression, requiring you to balance offensive pushes with base protection. Controls use the keyboard for tank movement and turret aiming, with mouse clicks to interact with sandbag objects. A typical session lasts 15 to 25 minutes across several discrete missions. No download or install is required; the game runs entirely in the browser. Scoring tracks enemies destroyed and base integrity, with a mission-fail state triggered by base destruction or self-imposed immobility.
