Wild West: Gold Rush is a reaction shooter where you watch the windows of an old frontier building and shoot bandits the moment they appear. You click on an enemy to fire, and the challenge is doing it fast enough before they shoot first. Critically, innocent civilians also pop into windows and shooting them costs you points or health, so you cannot just click everything that moves. Each level adds more windows to watch and shrinks the reaction window before enemies fire. The civilian-avoidance rule is what separates good runs from bad ones — panic-clicking the moment a figure appears will burn your health quickly. Learning to read the brief visual difference between a bandit and a civilian before firing is the main skill. Early levels are forgiving and let you find your rhythm, but later stages have enemies appearing in rapid overlapping bursts that demand split-second discrimination. A round lasts two to four minutes, and the game restarts cleanly after a loss. It suits players who enjoy Western aesthetics and reflex-based arcade shooters with a light penalty mechanic.
