Billy the Kid 2 is a western shooting gallery with a simple premise: you are the sheriff, Billy the Kid's gang is taking the town, and the only way back to a quiet drink is to shoot them first. Enemies appear one after another in the scene - popping up from behind cover, through windows, and around corners - and each one is only visible for a moment. Hesitate and you take the hit; shoot first and the wave continues. The escalation is entirely in those two numbers: later waves show each target for less time and put the next one on screen sooner, so what starts as a comfortable pace becomes a test of how quickly you can find a target and click it without hunting for it. There is no aiming beyond pointing at the right spot, so the game is reaction time and target recognition. Waves are short, thirty seconds to two minutes, and score comes from accuracy as much as from speed.
