Bejeweled Classic is the match-3 game that set the template: swap two adjacent gems to line up three or more of the same colour, and the matched set disappears. The board refills from above after every clear, and any gems that land in a new match clear on their own, which is where the scoring lives - a swap that only clears three is worth little next to one that sets off a cascade down the whole board. Bigger matches also forge special pieces, and each works differently: Fire Gems burn everything around them, Star Gems clear a full row and column, Hyper Cubes remove every gem of the colour you swap them with, and Supernova Gems detonate a wide area. Learning to build those on purpose rather than by accident is the difference between playing for points and playing for survival. Standard mode is untimed, so the pace is yours to set.
